Achievements
AKINYEMI, Adeolu Akanji was born in Oke-Odan, Yewa South Local Government Area, Ogun State, Nigeria on March 5, 1965. He attended International Primary School, Cotonou, Republic of Benin and St. James Anglican Primary School, Oke-Odan. Araromi Community High School, Orita, Ota, Ogun State. Federal School of Arts and Sciences, Victoria Island, Lagos for his Higher School Certificate (HSC). He also attended Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, Nigeria for his Bachelor of Fisheries and Wildlife, Master of Aquaculture and Fisheries (Fish Pathology) and Doctor of Philosophy (Fish Pathology).

Dr. Akinyemi, was the best student in his primary schools, best student in Physics and Chemistry in his secondary school. He led his school team to science quiz competitions two times where they came with second best and third best respectively at the zonal level. He was third best in mock news during two separate invited literary and debate competitions. During his University days as a student, he was recipient of best academic performance awards. He has won several fellowships to attend conferences and workshops nationally and internationally. He is a recipient of many grants and awards to carry out research in fisheries sciences. Dr. Akinyemi joined the services of Ogun State Teaching Service Commission as Master II (Agricultural Science Teacher) in 1995 and moved to Ogun State Agriculture Development Programme tripartite funded by World Bank, Federal and State Governments, as Agriculture Officer II (Extension Services) and was promoted to the position of Senior Agriculture Officer in 1999 in recognition of his hard work. In 2001, he was appointed Assistant Lecturer in the Department of Aquaculture and Fisheries Management, Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, Nigeria with a tripodal mandate of teaching, research and extension/community service, where he is currently an Associate Professor / Reader since 2014. He has held several positions of responsibility in the University. He has supervised many students at National Diploma, B.Sc., M.Sc. and PhD levels. He had served as External Examiner to The University of Ibadan, Ibadan and Delta State University (DELSU) for Ph.D. Masters viva voce respectively. He is currently the Head, Department of Aquaculture and Fisheries Management, Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, Nigeria.

He was on sabbatical leave in the Department of Fisheries Technology, Oyo State College of Agriculture and Technology Igboora, Oyo State, Nigeria. During this period he served in many capacities including Chairman, Local Organizing Committee and Resource person of workshops sponsored by many worlds acclaimed international organizations. He has been a regular guest on many electronic media houses, a member of many professional bodies including World Aquaculture Society (WAS) and presently a member of the National Executive Council of Fisheries Society of Nigeria (FISON) as the Financial Secretary. He has travelled far and wide to many countries among which are the United States of America (USA) and United Kingdom (UK) as a Scholar. Dr. Akinyemi has over 90 publications in reputable international learned journals (foreign and national) among others. He enjoys playing trumpet in symphony orchestra, singing – first tenor and conduction), photography and traveling. He is happily married to Mrs. Helen Folakemi Akinyemi and blessed with lovely children.
