At the 35th Annual meeting- Niger 2020, which held between 15th and 19th November 2020 also ended the tenure of ExCo and election of new Officers to guide FISON affairs for the next two years.

HOUSE OF REPS PASS BILL ON FISHERIES INSTITUTE OF NIGERIA
The House of Representatives has passed a bill seeking to establish the Fishery Institute of Nigeria, NGO for fisheries research, education and cooperative training in Nigeria to enhance the agricultural sector. read more

NATIONAL FISHERIES STAKEHOLDERS FORUM
The society made the call in Lagos, during the National Fisheries Stakeholders Forum, tagged: Harnessing the potential of non-state actors in fisheries and aquacultural development in West Africa. The Fisheries Society of Nigeria (FISON) has called on the Federal Government to promote a blue revolution that will encourage more farmers to develop entrepreneurial agri-businesses. Specifically, the society called for commercialisation of culturing of herbivorous fish species, to tackle high cost of fish production. read more
